Join us for a film screening and discussion with the filmmakers.
The film production companies History Before Us and Black Indians NC are dedicated to capturing on film the voices of people of African American and Indigenous ancestry across the nation. In this new film, the filmmakers explore the unique but complex historical and present-day history of the two diverse cultures. The documentary features a diverse representation of Afro-Indigenous people, academic scholars, historians, and Indigenous people of tribal communities across the United States, all exploring the question: "what does it mean to be Afro-Indigenous?"
